A Country I Would Like to Visit

The country that I would love to visit is Japan. Since I'm 14 years old, it's been my biggest dream. I have always liked anime, as many people, but when I turned 14, I started researching about it's culture, I studied Japan's Art History, I also took a curse to learn how to write a Manga and how to draw it. Latter I started studying the language, since then until 2010 I studied Japanese non stop.
I love it's History, I loved to learn such different kind of History, the way they count the years, the way they evolved is so different than the story we learn in school, that i fell in love. It's culture is so different, since the past until now, they treat the elders different, they treat eachother different, and lots of other things. Other thing that I really like is the way the fashion develops over there. Young people (from 12 to 25 usually) dress like they want to dress, and I think that is so awesome. I've heard lots of comments from family or friends that say that japanese people is so weird, but I find it awesome. They go out just like they want to, if they like to go outside with two pants and a skirt, all in different colors, then they just do it. They don't care if other people is watching, but the best is that other people don't really care about how the other is dressed. For example, there is this guy, that is 50 years old and like to dress like a school girl, he has his reasons, but he enjoys dressing like that and he thinks it's just a game, and he really likes when people tells him that he looks cute.
I would like to study lots of things there, like: Japan's History, Japanese, Japanese Cooking or more related to my field, Kabuki or Noh. I would like to live there for a while, I don't think that I would stay for life, but for months, or a couple of years. This would really help me master the language and learn a lot about their traditions.

My Ideal Job

I think my ideal job is close to what i'm already doing. Of course i still have lots to learn to make it my "ideal job". I really like costume design, it gives me the possibility to create characters, even though i'm not an actress, I can help them create a posture, a personality through the elements I can give them. I really like clothes and styles from all over the world, I like colors, accessories, make up and hair.
I would like to go further with the characterization by making masks. I want to take the next semester to learn different techniques that could help me improve this area, like sculpture, painting and others. Also i want to study on my own make up, because, there are different styles that are not only about clothes and accessories, but make up is a crucial part of the transformation. At the same time i want to start doing clothes, backpacks or accessories, so that way I can improve my abilities with the sewing machine.
I'm really thorough when I make things, I like the details and doing little things with lots of details, so I really enjoy making this kind of things, and because of that, the product is good. I like hand sewing a lot actually, but only when I have to do little details.
I think I chose the right career because I've learnt lots of things that fits with my ideal job, and the work field goes perfect. From a play at a theatre to participating in a movie, I can do all this things that I really love. I've already done some of this, but I'm sure that there are other works waiting outside the university, so I'm anxious of ending this year and become a professional.

First Term 2013

During the first term of this year we directed our profession towards movies, tv series and tv shows. Our teacher is a designer that works for "Canal 13" doing mostly scenography for the morning show that airs at 8am called "Bienvenidos". Also we had class with a known chilean Director called Orlando Lubbert. With both of this teachers we made a short film, that in the case of my group called Le Gaffer Producciones, was about a guy who was too much into videogames that his reality mixed with his games. The result wasn't very good because we had problems with the times of the actors and ours, it was very difficult to coordinate, also, the camera wasn't very good and we didn't knew how to use it. Even tough all this time and recording problems, when we got together to shoot, we has an incredible time, it was fun and we ended learning a lot from our mistakes.
In my free time i had to work for a play called "Lo que las mujeres no dicen", it was about a crazy girl who talked with a mannequin. There were 3 actresses who played different states of the main character, one was her evil childhood, the other her process of becoming a woman and the last one her last days, as an old lady. I worked in that play with my colleague, Nicoletta, and we had a great time with the company, but a side from that, we had a difficult time doing some of the things needed for the play, like the mannequin. We did the mannequin ourselves which was a huge challenge. We used lots of techniques and we failed lots of times, were the arms fell, the chest broke and things like that. For like, 3 or 4 days we slept like 3 hours trying to make the mannequin work. At the end we managed to make a beautiful mannequin which the director liked to call "Cindy". As a company we had to deal with other problems like, the girl in charge of production collapsed, we had to cancel the play a couple of nights and the biggest problem that was that the director had to put the money, from his pocket, for everything.
My thursdays were free, so i spent that time to be with my nephew. I went every thursday to my sister house to have lunch with them and to play with the little boy. In June he turned 1 year, and my family gave him as a present a wood horse and a little piano. He likes to play his little piano, which is at the right side of his father's piano, along with his father. Usually he takes my finger with his little hand and takes me to his room and puts in my hand a book, so he makes me read to him and show him the drawings. So, after all the problems i had to face in my free time with my work, or the problems with the homework, he kept me happy and active, that way, the next day i had extra energy to deal with all of that stuff without going bitter.
